Our Geographical Reference Region
The VCSL project reference area encompasses 18 districts across Southeastern Tanzania. This includes 12 districts in the Lindi and Morogoro regions, where the project had already covered Lindi Municipality, Mtama, and Nachingwea districts as of June 2024, with plans to expand to other districts in 2025. It also covers Nanyumbu District in Mtwara Region, with plans to expand to Masasi District. Additionally, the reference area includes Tunduru District in Ruvuma Region, which borders the project area in Nachingwea and is a potential future expansion site. The reference area extends to Kibiti and Rufiji districts in the Coastal Region and Kilolo District in Iringa Region, all adjacent to Lindi and Morogoro regions, and targeted for future project expansion.

The project area in Nanyumbu district comprises of 6,244.44 hectors of Village Land Forest Reserve, owned by Mkumbaru village. Nachingwea District Council: The project area in Nachingwea district comprises of 114,713.80 hectors of Village Land Forest Reserve, owned by 16 village councils.
